iQD008: Sum – What’s Wrong? EP out now on Beatport!

Amen madman Sum returns with his new EP What’s Wrong? and on iQ Entertainment!:

Sum – What’s Wrong? by iQ Entertainment 2011

The new EP from drum-n-bass/jungle/dubstep producer is a masterpiece of erie samples, crazy Amen breaks and lovely gooey gobs of bass!  Released in early January by iQ Entertainment on Beatport, What’s Wrong is a welcomed returned to creative, somewhat lo-fi, dubstep and jungle.  As iQD008, What’s Wrong? blends great dubstep tracks like “Rouan” and “Prayer for Glitch” with Amen anthems “What’s Wrong?” and “Ruffed Up Dub” with the 8bit throwback “Castlevania”.  Whether you’re a fan of dubstep, drum-n-bass, breakcore, jungle, glitch, or random noise, this the EP from Jeff Bright has something for you!

Sum aka SuMoNe aka Jeff Bright has been turning out killer cuts for the past several years w/ releases on Dubplatelet and Mos-Hi and upcoming releases on Renegade, Planet Mu, and iQ Entertainment.  Sum rose to fame with monstrous track “Reckless” on his own label Mos-Hi.  He followed up his initial success with constant touring of Europe and the United Sates up through 2008.  Since 2008, Jeff has taken a break from production.  Rumor has it that bass lovers around the world should be watching for his much anticipated return in 2011!

Bob G. Barker presents NightRiders’ FREE ALBUM Passports & Paparazzi

Bob G. Barker presents the NightRiders album Passports & Paparazzi as a FREE download:

NightRiders – Passports & Paparazzi by The NightRiders

The NightRiders offer their take on “the life” with their debut album Passports & Paparazzi.  The record opens with “Good Intentions”, a track about the aspirations of a couple young hustlers, and then turns towards a world of fame and fortune.  Passports & Paparazzi features the four singles: Don’t Get Me Wrong, Jump Off the Planet, Roll It up, and One Day At A Time.  Hope you have your passport read; it’s time for a trip with the NightRiders as your guides.

Bob G. Barker and Jam P. Astro formed the NightRiders in 2008 shortly after meeting in Indianapolis.  Bob G. Barker was already a veteran of emcee of the group Knox Haven, so when he met Jam P., a producer and rapper, it was like planets colliding.  Bob G. Barker is a master of the classic leisurely flow, and Jam P. Astro has the perfectly complimenting quick tongue.  The pair seamlessly transition between the club and the street.

iQD007 – Keeno’s “Winding” Single is now EXCLUSIVELY on Beatport!

iQ Entertainment is proud to introduce new-comer Keeno to the world of drum-n-bass with his epic single Winding:

Every once and a while a new producer emerges that commands the ears of the upper echelon of music, and Keeno is quickly establishing himself with that voice.  iQD007 is Keeno’s debut drum-n-bass release featuring his lovely tunes “Winding” and “Hurt”.  Both are emotional, piano driven pieces with “Winding” being a more sentimental piece and “Hurt” living up to it’s name.  Additionally, “Hurt” finds the young musician singing the heartfelt lyrics featured on the song.  Due to Keeno’s profound understanding of musical theory, this release is for everyone from drum-n-bass heads to classical music listeners.

Keeno aka Will Keen began his musical training at quite a young age, beginning as choir boy and later learning piano by ear.  Will’s interests turned towards drum-n-bass and dubstep after discovering the sounds of High Contrast and the rest of Hospital Records in his early the teens.  Taking what he knew about classical music, Keeno began crafting his first bass oriented tunes, and within weeks, the young man from Winchester began quite a stir on Sound Cloud.  With his amazing ability to craft melodies, Keeno brings a refreshing classiness to dance music that is often missing in today’s barrage of mechanical drums and aggressive basslines.  We at iQ Entertainment are truly proud to introduce you to Keeno!

iQD006 – Tha Doc drops his IMPOSE EP exclusively on Beatport!

iQD006 – Tha Doc’s new dubstep and drum-n-bass IMPOSE EP is available exclusively on Beatport!:

Tha Doc – IMPOSE by More iQ Entertainment

In support of his new EP, tha Doc offers the first single as a free download!  From the moody opening of Cheerleader, the new single from Tha Doc’s IMPOSE EP, tension builds as the synth line begs for some bass.  When the kick first enters, you become fully aware of the irony of this track being titled “Cheerleader”.   Enjoy and “show me how bad you want to be a cheerleader!”

As one of Indianapolis’s drum-n-bass veterans and early adopters of the dubstep sound, Tha Doc is intimately familiar with sub bass, and his new release on iQ Entertainment is reflection of that intimacy.  From the onset of the atmospheric track “Jest” to the conclusion of the melodic tune “The Naut”, Tha Doc makes his love of bass well known with deep grooves flowing throughout the release.  Even the hardest track avoids the cliche dubstep sounds of the moment by maintaining a high level of soul and minimalism.  If you miss the classic sounds of dubstep, this is definitely a must have for you!

Let’s Do Lunch w/ Oreo Jones – Episode 1

Oreo Jones brings his love of food to Youtube with the debut of his new cooking show Let’s Do Lunch:

What on Earth would inspire an up-and-coming emcee to start his own cooking show?  In a single word–FOOD.  Oreo Jones is known for his love of food, and in his new web series Let’s Do Lunch, Oreo shares that love and his awkward sense of humor with a new guest every month.  The series premiere finds Mr. Jones linking up with his tour DJ, DJ B-Qwyatt, to explore the art of cooking chili.  As typically happens with these two, making something as simple chili quickly ventures into Jackass territory with Oreo eating a raw habanero pepper and getting slapped upside the head.  I hope you have your appetite prepared.  And now, Let’s Do Lunch!

Huge things are in the works for Oreo Jones following his epic march on the indie hip-hop scene.  He is currently trying to follow up the Delicious with a massive indie-rock collaboration EP being executive produced by Dodge of My Old Kentucky Blog.  Currently the MOKB EP will feature collaborations between Oreo and Jookabox, the Woodhands, Slothpop, and We Are Hex.  Also this fall, Oreo re-entering the studio with his producer 90lbs to complete a follow up project to the Delicious EP titled Super Model Death Dive.  Oreo Jones has been featured on the Album Review Blog, MOKB, Mostly Junk Food, The New Confusion, Caffeine Headache, Ruby Hornet, and Boom Boom Chick.

Grey Granite presents “Not A Robot – A Perfect Date” starring Action Jackson

Grey Granite brings his vision for “Not A Robot” to life in his new music video starring Action Jackon:

Rumors have been floating for months of a hilarious video for Grey Granite’s single “Not A Robot” starring Action Jackson; well, here it is.  The conception of “Not A Robot” stems from a video about life size dolls Grey saw.  The video is an exploration of what it would be like to “date” a doll.  From that idea and the acting of Action Jackson, the hilarity ensued.  As we disclaimed in the video, we promise that Action isn’t as creepy as he’s portrayed in the video.
