Last fall, tha Doc dropped his debut IMPOSE EP on iQ Entertainment and garnered a good buzz for his creativity.  Now he’s making his return with the 6 tracks that compose his Evolution EP.  Evolution is a great selection of interesting and soulful dubstep, drum-n-bass, and downtempo songs from the young producer.  Evolution proves to be an appropriate name for his second release as it shows tremendous artistic growth in the composition of each track.

Grey Granite – Get Grimey (Infuze Remix) by Infuze

Infuze’s dubstep remix of “Get Grimey” by Grey Granite, Jam P Astro, and El Carnicero dropped on Beatport!:

Last summer, Grey Granite linked up with fellow Heavy Gun emcee Jam P. Astro and producer El Carnicero to craft a grime tune dedicated to unhealthy living titled “Get Grimey”.  The track leaked and garnered a a lot of blog attention.  Nearly a year later, the single sees an official release on iQ Entertainment along with an insane remix from up and coming dubstep producer Infuze.  Both tracks are exclusively available via Beatport!

Infuze is a producer hailing from NYC who wears many hats from professional studio engineering to film composition.  He is currently heavily focused on Dubstep production and is making some serious inroads this year.  With DJ support from 12th Planet, Flinch, Figure, Hellfire Machina, Reid Speed, and Proper Villians, and with tracks forthcoming on some of the biggest labels in the business both in the US and the UK later this year (still a secret), Infuze is a name you will not be able to avoid.

Beta Male brings a touch of class to Let’s Do Lunch with Oreo Jones!:

So far Let’s Do Lunch has made chili, grilled cheese, and a Bunch of Old Ladies, but in this episode, Oreo’s switching gears and having a tea party with the band Beta Male.  That’s right, one-man concept-band turned new wave sex-rock hula-hoop band Beta Male classes up the set of Let’s Do Lunch with some Earl Grey tea and cucumber sandwiches on pumpernickel bread.  The group even hosts a guest of honor, Teddy Ruxpin.  We’re going to go ahead and say it:  you’ve never truly partied until you attended a Beta Male tea party.

Beta Male started out as the introspective solo project of David Hazel in 2005.  With a lot of hoopla and hula hooping, David began conspiring with performance artists Allison Hazel and Jessica Hack on Beta Male’s now sexy live performance.  As their artistic relationship blossomed, Allison and Jessica became integral members of the group, respectively playing bass guitar and keys.  With the addition of guitarist TJ Briggs, Beta Male took on the appearance of a tradition four piece, but in all honesty, they were so much more.  Between their adventurous production, fearless lyrics, and eerily erotic live performance, Beta Male proves to be a provocative exploration of emotion rendered in sound and light.

What on Earth would inspire an up-and-coming emcee to start his own cooking show?  In a single word–FOOD.  Oreo Jones is known for his love of food, and in his new web series Let’s Do Lunch, Oreo shares that love and his awkward sense of humor with a new guest every month.

Who is Oreo jones?  This past spring, Oreo Jones took the hip-hop and indie music scenes of Indianapolis by storm with the release of his Delicious EP on Heavy Gun Recordings and was recently voted the 2nd favorite hip-hop act in Nuvo Newsweekly.  The Delicious EP was led by the success of his single “Good Times” which has been featured on several national music blogs and charted up to #4 on the Hypem.com Twitter chart. More recently, Oreo dropped an indie rock collaboration EP titled Oreo Jones & Friends featuring Jookabox, Woodhands, BLKNHBD, We Are Hex, Laura Balke, Grey Granite, and J. Brookinz with support from X103, Butler Scion, My Old Kentucky Blog, and Heavy Gun Recordings to assist VH1′s Save The Music.  In short, Oreo Jones is an artist that should be paid attention!

iQ Entertainment’s eleventh release comes from bass heavy weight Infuze!

Years ago, if you remember, most good electronic music was only available on vinyl.  Back then, when you wanted to release a surprise record, you could press up 500 or 1000 “white labels” and send ‘em out to all the vinyl shops.  These White Label releases were some of the most sought-after tracks for DJs all over the world because of their limited nature.  Fast forward to 2011 and MP3s.  Obviously, we can’t press up a bunch of White Label vinyl – we are way too broke for that.  However, what we can do is provide you with the same experience from back then, but in the digital age – handwritten white record sticker and all.  Infuze and iQ Entertainment present: Infuze – White Label.  Available Friday, March 25th on Beatport.  We need your support!  We really want to pump this into the top 100 Dubstep.  It’s a HUGE tune.  So far it has been getting play support from the likes of heavy hitters Hellfire Machina and Proper Villains.  Check it out!   In true White Label fashion, maybe it’s actually a remix you will recognize.  In fact, we are sure you will.  Just don’t tell anyone or Beatport will make us take it down!

In 2005 when iQ Entertainment launched as an event promotions company, the brand was focused almost exclusively on promoting the bass driven sounds of Drum-n-Bass.  Over the years, we’ve progressed with the rest of the bass music scene towards newer genres like dubstep, drumstep, and everything else, but our heart remains true to the sounds jungle and dnb.  With our 10th release and first volume of our Study Abroad series, we have collected 3 amazing drum-n-bass cuts from from 3 talented producers around the globe.  St. Louis native Blueprint opens with hard pounding, chest rattling tech-stepper titled “Face Of Danger”.  UK producer L F Foe follows up with “Forward Movement,” a slick liquid track that reminds us a bit of early Dave Owen.  i wannabe of Ukraine rounds out the release with his jazzy tune “Standing Next Door.”  If you’ve ever enjoyed the energy of drum-n-bass, this release is a must have!

alpha.live + J. Brookinz – Six Shot by Heavy Gun 2011

Indy’s god emcee alpha.live links up with J. Brookinz, the Highest Man Alive, for Six Shot, a tribute to lyric and sample driven hip-hop:

The teaser video for Six Shot said it all: 1 emcee, 1 producer, 2 legends, 6 shots!  After several years of friendly one-off collaborations, alpha.live and J. Brookinz link up to give hip-hop junkies a hot shot in the arm of impeccable beats with perfectly laced lyrics.  The pair first collaborated on the now infamous OG version of The Bar featuring Grey Granite, then built upon that with the critically acclaimed “Obama 08″ that was featured on blogs like Kevin Nottingham, and have recently collabbed on a track for Brookinz’s exalted The Gateway Drug.  Six Shot picks up where their relationship left-off with Brookinz’s penchant for chipmunk soul and alpha’s love of thought provoking, creative lyrics.  From the lead single “The Come Up” to the highly processed closing track “Blue Skies”, Six Shot proves to be dead on the mark all six rounds.

Every city has that one lyricist that everyone has to admit is a beast on the mic; in Indianapolis that artist is alpha.live.  Gentleman Alphonse cut his teeth in freestyle circles in Indianapolis long before every dropping his now infamous FIXTape and was named one of Indy’s top freestyle emcees by Nuvo in 2009.  Since then, alpha has dropped the well received Steal From The Rich w/ Dope Couture’s CMART, The Love Story, and Soul Cinema with producer Soul Cinematik.  Currently alpha.live is working with Spitten Writtens to craft video adaptations of each track on Six Shot and Soul Cinematik to finish their next project Soul Cinema 1.5!

During the spring and summer of 2010, J. Brookinz reasserted why he is hands down the Highest Man Alive.   4/20/2010 found the producer (and sometimes rapper) releasing his most well received project to date.  The Gateway Drug: THC was Mr. Brookinz’s love letter to the light of his life–marijuana.  As a testament to how intertwined cannabis and hip-hop have become in American culture, the project was featured on blogs such as Ruby Hornet, Kick Kick Snare, Mostly Junk Food, Noise Porn, Check The Rhymes, and Tune Devil.  Watch for J. Brookinz to follow up The Gateway Drug’s success with a sequel for this year’s holiday!

Oreo Jones hooks up with Jessica Clark of Roaring Colonel Records for the third episode of Let’s Do Lunch with Oreo Jones!

Oreo Jones continues to sharpen his culinary skills with the third episode of Let’s Do Lunch w/ Oreo Jones featuring one of the co-owners of Roaring Colonel Records Jessica Clark.  Jess, a lover of food and music, teaches Mr. Jones how to make her famous Hillbilly Hot Dogs, as well as how to decorate a cake.  Per usual, awkward hilarity ensues.  This episode also features the inclusion of producer Paulie Gallamore and the IUPUI Student Media.

Illy – Wilin’ Out by iQ Entertainment 2011

iQ Entertainment continues their onslaught of releases with iQD009 from Illy!:

iQD009 finds iQ Entertaiment dropping 2 bangers from Philadelphia-based emcee and producer Illy.  The release liberates Illy’s classic collaboration with Bmore legends Uncle Jesse of Unruly Records fame and the follow up to last year’s smash “That’s My Steez” by Double on the Rocks! “Wilin’ Out” is an instant party anthem with a crazy Baltimore club backed beat and the insanity of Illy on the vocals.  On the flip side, “Sex Raps” takes a more electro house approach with production from CT Burners, but Illy keeps the verses hot all the same.  The release is out now exclusively on Beatport!

Illy, a rave veteran, has been a driving force behind East Coast dance music in many different capacities including partnerships such as the rave rap duo Double On The Rocks with CT Burners, the bass-oriented blog and podcast TightenUP.biz with Houston, and his new dubstep project PLS DNT STP with recording engineer Tom Kee.  Watch for upcoming releases from PLS DNT STP from the new label Sex Cult Records, started by Designer Drugs member Michael Vincent Patrick.  Also, make sure to grab their remix of Designer Drugs’s “Through The Prism” out now on iTunes!
